I am concerned that parking restrictions proposed for Wilmslow Rd / Grange Park Rd will just relocate parking further along Wilmslow Rd and on to Broadway, where it is already quite dangerous.

Please can you explain what ‘local housing development’ is?
Surely housing needs the money more than a childrens playground that is already well provided.

As you know the parking issue at Bruntwood park is far more important than providing new equipment for the playground. It’s very dangerous and when the hotel opens it will become impossible. Surely this money should be relocated to provide adequate parking. We have been lobbying for years and have told the council on numberous occasions that an emergency vehicle would have terrible problems accessing the park in an emergency. You did say you would look at this but we were told you have no money ……….??????

Please re think where the £9000 should go. Housing sounds like a plan to me lets give it to the people that need it. Or how about giving it to Abney Hall who need it (unless I’m mistaken about that?)

Hi Angie – happy to explain.

Whenever someone undertakes a development, there’s a sum of money that goes to the council to be spent on improving the area.

There are strict rules from government on what it can be spent on though – it’s not available for just anything.

Play areas are one of things that it can be spent on, and without this money we would struggle to maintain and improve play equipment.

The money can also only be spent on areas close to where the development happened, so it can’t always just be switched between parks.
