The Liberal Democrats are still the only party with a plan for Britain

by Lib Dem Team on 17 January, 2017

If you were hoping for a clear and sensible plan for Brexit Britain from Theresa May you’ll be disappointed. Theresa May’s 12 point speech contained no plan for Britain.

The one thing we did learn is the Conservatives have ditched their 2015 manifesto promise to stay in the Single Market and have now decided to take Britain out whatever the cost.

It’s clear the government has no idea of how to move forward and no opposition from Labour, who are also backing Brexit.

Many local people are choosing to back the Liberal Democrats because they have a positive plan for Britain and are the only party united in delivering an open and tolerant Britain.

The Liberal Democrats positive plan for Brexit Britain –

  1. We will fight to keep the UK in the single market.
  2. We will give the public not just MPs the final say on a Brexit deal.

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron says, “I think even people who disagree with us will respect the fact we are standing by what we believe.”

“And for the many millions of people who agree with us, my message to them is: join us.”

You can do just that here.

Tim Farron what a great leader he makes tweeting on Friday that there was something on the tv but he had something better to do than watch it then posted picture Lefleting
Embarrassing for him and the party need I say more.

  2. Bruce says:

I voted to leave the EU – period. If it entails leaving the single market then so be it.
Most people voted to leave because of immigration- we cannot have uncontrolled immigration which your party supports.

Less people voted for LibDems at the last General Election than for UKIP. Perhaps they need to ask themselves why

    • Lib Dem Team says:

We have been asking ourselves that. The result is that the Lib Dems have been winning seats across the country over the last year while UKIP have been losing seats.

      • Halifaix says:

UKIP have clearly passed their high water mark and I guess when Brexit is complete will fade away.

I expect that LibDems will recover somewhat from the last election, but the bar was set very low

      Halifaix – great post.

There will have to be a big change in Liberal policy for me to vote again for them..it pains me to say.

    • Halifaix says:

You may find it hard to believe but I used to be a strong LibDem supporter and even posted leaflets on their behalf.

However it has becoming increasing clear that the LibDems are only representative of areas like Richmond South

Mr Farron is not a ‘great leader’ as Bruce posts. What has he ever led? He is just the latest leader of a party that asks the occasional pertinant question in parliament but is otherwise irrrelevant on the decisions of how this country is run. And i say that as a long-time suporter of our local LibDem people. But what are they doing for us in Gatley? Looking locally in Gatley and the businesses that have closed since i moved here – both the banks, two greengrocers one of which used to do fresh fish, a useful electricals shop (now a deli), and not forgetting to mention the cinema which i loved and went to regularly. Somewhere in the past i think something went badly wrong with how our local communities are supported and promoted by local government. It seems to me that they just opted out and left villages to market forces.
I don’t want to see Gatley becoming just a place for coffee shops and takeaways with it’s village core lost, but it sure seems to be headed that way to me. And i don’t see the LD’s doing anything that will stop that.
