Stonepail Road resurfaced in Lib Dem £100 million plan

by Lib Dem team on 28 July, 2017

Stonepail Road in Gatley is the latest to be fully resurfaced as part of the Liberal Democrats’ £100 million scheme to repair every bad road and pavement across Stockport.

“I’m very pleased to see this work done,” said Iain. “Stonepail Road is one that’s been patched and patched and patched but needed a proper resuface. Because it isn’t a main road, it would never have been done without the Lib Dem £100 million. Now we need the Council to move onto repairing all the bad roads and pavements in the area.”

How about Highgrove Road in Cheadle? The road and pavements are in such a bad state that it is pretty dangerous.

  2. Iain Roberts says:

Absolutely Karen – the £100 million is for all the roads to be done – it just takes time to get round them all. We want High Grove (and many, many other bad roads locally) to be included on the list and we’ll be working to make sure that happens.

Warren avenue in cheadle please – all the parking and traffic short cutting through from gatley road to wilmslow road has resulted in the surface of the road cracking up – the pavements are worse from various utililities digging them up and pavement parking.

How long is the tar and chip road surface intended to last?
This method used to be used for country lanes many years ago in Somerset and was not very hard wearing. I hope it has been improved since then?

Silverdale road is a main rd and needs potholes ,speedhumps and resurfacing Saville Rd needs pavements and road repairs I don’t think Saville Rd is ever cleaned

Hooray!!!! Stonepail Road has been patched up then patched up and a mess for years. A complete resurface was the only and much needed solution. At last someone has had the common sense to authorise it.

I add my support about Warren Avenue…..further, it is now three years since this road was last cleaned by SMBC….what a waste of my taxes!!!

  8. DR C says:

Good, and all the better once the double yellow lines are reinstated, but – surely it would be better still to make the road one way? at the Church Road end at least??
FTR – oneself speaks as a pedestrian who ‘dices with death’ each time tha crosses said road when going to or from the bus stop.
