Massie Street East Car Park resurfacing 21st-24th August 2017

by Lib Dem team on 14 August, 2017

From the Council:

Stockport Council is undertaking a programme of repairs across the borough as part of the ‘Investing in Stockport’ initiative.

Stockport Council will be undertaking resurfacing works on Massie Street East Car Park (part) and the works will be carried out by our Alliance Partner J Cooney Ltd.

Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 21st August 2017 taking up to four days to complete, weather permitting. Properties directly affected will receive a letter in due course explaining the scope of the work and timescales involved. Although some local disruption is inevitable this will be kept to a minimum by our staff on site.

Any chance of doing the road and pavement surfaces in the The Mews ( Off Springfield RD) Gatley while the council is undertaking these resurfacing projects? The Mews surfaces are in a terrible state, potholes and broken surfaces across the whole site, 14 house and ( council Tax payees) are directly effected an a daily basis. I have lived in the Mews for 18 years now and absolutely nothing has been done to repair the pavement ( which is fast becoming a H&S issues) and road surfaces in that time, it would be good to get this work done as the council is doing this work across the area.

Hi Mark – being able to repair smaller residential roads like The Mews and the hundreds of others across Stockport in a similar condition is exactly why the Lib Dems got the £100 million investment.

The council programme is over several years, so I can’t say exactly when any of our roads will be done, but they should be on the list.

  3. Margaret Cummins says:

Mark – I have been asking for the pavement on a MAIN THOROUGHFARE, namely Stockport Road directly opposite side to Queens Gardens and running to old Police Station, it seems like forever but for some perverse reason, Councillor Roberts refuses to say why this pavement cannot be taken care of. I can only envy the residents of Cheadle Heath who are blessed with being able to keep their feet dry on rainy days.

  4. Iain says:

No peverse reason, Margaret – just the plain old normal reason that it’s not something I have control over and I’m not one to promise things I can’t deliver.

The simple reason it’s not been done so far is that – while I’d love to get it sorted – there are many, many pavements that are in worse condition and so are a higher priority.
