Eight years as a councillor

by Lib Dem team on 8 September, 2017

Iain writes:

“Eight years ago I was first elected to serve as councillor for Cheadle and Gatley. I stood in a by-election following the unexpected death of Cllr Brian Millard, and have since been re-elected in 2010 and 2014.

It’s been an honour to serve the community where I live and where my children have been to school. Over the last eight years I’ve spoken to thousands of people and helped residents solve hundreds of issues.

I’ve delivered leaflets through every single door in Cheadle and Gatley, and I’ve sent out over 400 issues of my weekly email newsletters to keep local residents informed of what’s going on.

In the last few years speaking to people on the local SK8 and Gatley Facebook groups has become a more important part of the job.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me over that time.

Next year I will be standing for election in May and asking local residents to re-elect me as councillor for Cheadle and Gatley. As always, along with my colleagues Graham Greenhalgh and Keith Holloway, I will continue to work all year round for local people and do the best I can for our community.”
