Iain calls for Council to fix yellow line blunder

by Lib Dem team on 14 November, 2017

Cllr Iain Roberts is calling for the Council to fix a blunder where a double yellow line has been painted three time longer than it should be.

The double yellow line on Church Road, Gatley, should go from the Tesco car park up to the electricity sub-station. The aim was to stop cars parking on the car park junction and also stop them parking opposite the bus stop.

Instead, the line has been painted three times too long and goes nearly up to Gatley Hill.

“The line that’s been painted is not what councillors asked for, not what was consulted on and probably isn’t legally enforceable. Hopefully the Council will correct this error quickly.” said Iain.

Doesn’t really matter, it’s already being routinely ignored!

The fact that the council have only now got round to implementing parking restrictions (double yellow line) at this point on Church Road is symptomatic of the lack of understanding on road and driving issues at council level.
Anybody with driving experience would recognise that once Tesco had opened that a parking hazard would occur at this point of Church Road, how many years has it taken the council to realise this? The council’s same lack of understanding on local road issues has yet to be corrected at the hazardous road junction of Church/Gatley roads (A560), Horse and Farrier.

The ‘extra’ yellow lines are great. I live by them and they have improved the congestion along that stretch of Church Road no end and no big delivery trucks stopping there. ??
