Council plans new campaign against dog mess

by Lib Dem team on 5 December, 2017

We’ve received the following message from the Council:

As part of the campaign to Improve Local Environmental Quality and working with Keep Britain Tidy we are targeting dog fouling as an issue.

The Keep Britain Tidy campaign posters, as shown below, are placed on lamp columns in identified dog fouling hotspot areas for 2 to 3 weeks. The area is surveyed for incidents of fouling, prior to the posters being displayed, during and after so that we can measure the impact of the posters.

Please let us know if you have any hotspots that you would like to use these posters at. We have 40 posters so we will list the sites identified and move the posters from site to site over the winter months

“Dog mess is a problem everywhere,” said Iain. “No-one has the answer, but trying different approaches is sensible and this Keep Britain Tidy campaign seems worth a go.”

Altrincham Road, where the pavement is bordered by a grass verge on the left hand side going into Gatley. The pavement is disgusting.

Park Road various parts are often a mess.

  2. Barbara says:

Brook Road, along the opposite side to the Drill Hall and toward Mill Lane under the railway bridge is a frequent dog poo spot. We move poo from the corner where Brook Road meets Grosvenor Court quite often.

    Every street in Gatley!

Cheadle High Street, someone frequently let’s their dog leave messages within the street at differing locations, always on the same side of the street ie, sainsbury supermarket side. Disgusting.

Public parks seem to suffer as many dog owners have been observed taking the lead off as soon as they enter the gate of Jubilee Park. Ugh.
The path that runs through Brunwood Park is also heavily used by dog walkers who put their animals and their poos first before childrren who walk along this area, even allowing them to run up to little ones and jump up. I know because we’ve had experience of this.
