Council acts on Occasions fireworks banner

by Lib Dem team on 9 January, 2018

Following complaints from Iain, the Council has confirmed that it will consider prosecution unless a fireworks banner is removed from the former Occasions shop in Gatley. The owners are being written to.

A pop-up shop selling fireworks operated in the run-up to November 5th, but the increasingly-tatty banner has never been removed.

“The Council investigated after we contacted them, and I’m pleased to say that they now say they will look at prosecution if the banner are is not removed,” said Iain.

Never mind the banner what’s being done about the defective pavements on and around Cheadle High Street.
The Banner might be a eyesore but the pavements are a Trip Hazard , urgent rectification repairs are required to save trip injuries and trips to a overburdened A&E deparment.

On 6 Oct. I had a call from SMBC officer confirming that my complaint about the pavement outside Istanbul restaurant was valid. On the original check carried out about a month previously it was regarded as not valid, but in the month it had deteriorated. “It will be done in the next 4 weeks” was part of the message on my phone. Pink marks were painted on the offending area…..the work has not been done. The pink marks are no longer visible. Says everything!

    Hi Janet
It’s good that you and others report problems but as you have said nothing is every rectified and now the pink marks have gone the council will claim that it has been repaired.
I walked in and around Cheadle High Street Iain Roberts about 12 months ago recording all the defective areas of defective/dangerous pavings and despite his best efforts No Repairs have been effected,

How about going around the area and removing all the illegal adverts from the railings and posts. Whenever I get the chance I remove them but there in one at Gatley lights that has been there for at least six months.
