Report back from Cheadle Area Committee, 6th March 2018

by Lib Dem team on 6 March, 2018

Here’s what was discussed and decided at this evening’s Cheadle Area Committee meeting.

The webcast should be on the council website tomorrow. No planning applications and a fairly short agenda so we were done and dusted inside an hour.

On the agenda for the 6th March meeting:

  • A petition from six residents on Charlotte Street asking for residents parking will be passed onto officers. We have investigated this in the past without success (it didn’t meet the criteria for residents parking because everyone has a driveway) but council officers will look again.
  • A petition from 24 residents on Vaudrey Drive asking for residents parking combined with two-hour limited stay parking will be looked into by council officers.
  • An application from All Hallows Church for £90.87 to cover additional equipment for their successful Tuesday morning breakfast cafe was approved.
  • Application from I Love Bramhall/I Love Cheadle Hulme/Friends of Lumb Lane Park for £2000 towards the “Paws and Play in the Park” event on 7th May. They asked for £500 from Cheadle Hulme North. Because the event is well outside the area (in Bramhall) and no-one came to make a case or answer questions, the application was refused. However, they may still get funding from the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South Area Committee.
  • There were no planning applications coming to the committee this month
  • There were no current planning appeals, enforcement appeals or enforcement notices in the Cheadle Area.
  • Proposal to create a bridleway (which can be used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders) between Carrs Avenue and Sherborne Road in Cheadle – this would then be maintained by the council. This was agreed by councillors.
  • A report on road safety outside schools in Stockport was discussed and agreed. Thanks to a Lib Dem initiative last year, the number of tickets handed out to people parking illegally outside schools has doubled.
  • Report on money from local developments proposed for play area improvements in Bruntwood Park, Eden Park and Gatley Rec was approved.
  • Application for Bruntwood BMX Club to host the fourth annual North Region Championship meeting was approved.
