The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Cheadle’s Royal Bank of Scotland branch is one of those flagged to close, with the closure date being 8th August 2018.
162 branches are set to close across England, with almost 800 jobs being lost. Branches in Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme are also on the closure list.

It seems not only a loss to the RBS customers but a bad business decision not to have a branch across Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme or Bramhall, considering the age of the population and the associated banking habits.
As a family we’ll definitely be moving our accounts.
Vin.
Goodbye RBS.
Who wants my business? Several to choose from.
Footfall in banks is rapidly decreasing due to remote banking. Which one will be next?
Absoloutely right, Bruce. Our NatWest branch is in Didsbury and has been since 1972 when we lived on the Didsbury/Burnage border. In the last decade, I think we’ve only been in twice – both times because we needed to provide photo ID before they would process transactions. Technology now makes branches almost obsolete.
Sorry, but I don’t agree with John. I’m retired now having spent my working life programming real-time systems (though not in banking). I ‘love’ computers although I DO NOT TRUST them! Technology is not making branches obsolete; it’s just promoting victims (cf. the latest fiasco with TSB) and not just in banking (cf. Mr Sugarmoutain). Time for politicians to wise to on the dangers!? The trouble is that, along with the vast majority of people, they’re largely clueless as well, when it comes to modern technological realities.
Just move your accounts – simples!
