The Lib Dem team have been in contact with the Council and Police after travellers arrived on Brookfield Park, Cheadle. Here’s what the Police told us today (Friday 13th July 2018):
5 CommentsTravellers were issued with a notice and moved yesterday evening from Woodford and relocated to Wilmslow Road, Cheadle. They were issued with a second removal notice instantly which they had to move again by 10am today.
Officers have visited the site earlier today and they had not yet left.
They were given a final hour warning and an hour later a local sergeant was set to lead a team over to the site with removal vehicles to seize any remaining vehicles.
Please be aware that the notices that they have been issued with means that they are not permitted to return to either site for three years. This includes any of their vehicles, so all registrations have been noted and if ANY one of these vehicles is spotted on either site over the next three years they will be seized.
The latest incursion has been dealt with swiftly, but it is not a definitive answer to the problem.
Fake registration number plates are easy to obtain.
Different vans may enter, after breaking the padlock that secures the barrier at the entrance to the park.
What happens after the three-year ban expires?
Any suggestions, preferably legal, for a lasting solution to this problem?
At last! A process which actually inconveniences them instead of us. Well done guys.
Fantastic news, there finally seems to be a solution to this long term problem!
Heard a lot of Banging in the middle of the night and men shouting from Brookfield Park that must have been them breaking the barrier down.
The modus operandi is break the locks the day before the caravans arrive. So they can claim free access and are not responsible for damage.
