Following concerns over whether the Red Lion filling station was meeting its current planning conditions, the Council has investigated and written to us:

Further to the complaints received by the Council regarding a breach of condition at the above premises, I can advise that I have written to the proprietor of the premises today to remind them of the need to comply with the conditions of their approved planning permission ie.

1. Condition 3 – The premises should not be open for trade except between the hours of 7.30am and 10.00pm.

2. Condition 5 – The car wash facility may only operate from 8.00am to 8.00pm

They have been advised that the Council will now carry out unannounced observations and should they be found to be operating outside of these permitted hours, then the Council will be in a position to commence formal enforcement action against them.

A recent proposal for 24 hour opening at the filling station was rejected by Lib Dem councillors and the council. This decision was upheld by the planning inspector.
