Government proposals for boundary changes would see Cheadle constituency abolished.
In its place, Stockport West and Cheadle would lose Bramhall and Stepping Hill, and add on the Heatons and Edgeley and Cheadle Heath. Cheadle Hulme, Heald Green, Cheadle and Gatley would all stay in the new constituency.
The new plans, proposed by the Conservatives, would see the Tories winning 40 more seats than Labour if both parties got the same vote at a General Election.

No complaints about the current MP or her immediate predecessor.
BUT…
Just hoping those ‘turkeys’ at ‘Westmonster’ do vote for Christmas!
Don’t know why this hasn’t been subject of a legal challenge – it’s gerrymandering pure and simple. Still I suppose if the Tories rig things so they stay in forever, sooner or later they’ll have to fix the bloody mess they’re creating now.
If it means keeping the RACIST Labour party and its RACIST leader Jeremy Corbyn out of power, then full steam ahead with the changes.
Just because you keep saying someone is racist, doesn’t make it so.
Agreed, BUT…
It is not the Jewish community whom Corbyn hates – it is the indigenous caucasian one! You know? – the majority (still)!
Any native Briton voting for that beardy-weirdy almost certainly has a liking for self flagellation! ?
Currently the boundaries very much favour Labour (because they don’t need to get as many votes to win a seat). The Tories would be perfectly justified in implementing the boundary commission report. The commission is a non-partisan organisation. In fact, if they had implemented the previous one they would be spared a lot of their current difficulties.
“here, Here, HERE”! ?
It nearly happened with the coalition government but Nick Clegg could get his own way on another matter and withdrew his support
That should read “could not”

I took the trouible to read the Commission’s report, in so far as it effects the Greater Manchester area, before commenting.
I understand the concept of trying to make constituences broadly similar in size – although it appals me that this will probably increase the number of Tory MPs, making it very difficult for any opposition party to become the government in the foreseeable future. Effectively, it will mean the UK becomes a one party state (something bound to increase the support for, say, the SNP with the likelhood of the breakup of the UK. You have to take a view as to whether the Commission is actually independent of the current government. If it is, then it is fulfilling its brief. If it is not, then this is gerrymandering.
So, whilst I might strongly dislike the outcome, the concept behind it is right. Reading the report, the Commission has struggled with trying to balance numbers against keeping communities together. It had original proposals, received public opinion on them and has amended their final proposals in some cases. It will lead to some odd boundaries but that happens now – over in, I think, the Reddish area, the constituency includes wards from Tameside and the Wythenshawe constituency also includes the Brooklands ward of Trafford.
