What’s coming up at Cheadle Area Committee 25 September 2018

by Lib Dem team on 17 September, 2018

The next Cheadle Area Committee is at 6pm on Tuesday 25 September 2018 at Trinity Church, Massie Street, Cheadle. All are welcome to attend – here’s what’s coming up.

  • Application for £1,000 for a defibrillator for Gatley from Gatley Festival Committee
  • Application for £1,000 for a defibrillator for Gatley from Gatley Green Resident Group
  • Application for £1,000 towards the cost of the Victorian Christmas event from Cheadle Village Partnership
  • Application for £1,000 from The East Cheshire Musical Theatre Company towards the £10,000+ cost of putting on a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Romiley Forum.
  • Planning application DC/070133 for the Ladybridge Sports and Social Club to demolish the existing changing rooms, pavilion and storage buildings and erect a new sports pavilion with equipment store and to allow the existing sports & social club to be used as a place of worship.
  • Planning application DC/068682 to demolish 1 The Oval, Heald Green and build two detached properties on the site.
  • Planning application DC/070022 – full planning permission to build a detached house to the rear of 14 Lyntonvale Avenue. Outline permission has already been granted by the planning inspector.
  • Planning application DC/070635 – extension to 23 Brown Lane, Heald Green.
  • A few months ago councillors turned down an application for the Red Lion Filling Station in Cheadle to open 24 hours a day. The owners appealed against that decision and we have now been told that appeal has been dismissed, and our decision upheld.
  • Proposal for a 2m height barrier to be installed at the Village Hall Car Park on Outwood Road, Heald Green, to help deter illegal traveller incursions.
  • Proposal to extend the existing barriers by 8m on the grass verge outside Meadowbank High School, to prevent illegal access by travellers onto the field next to the school.
  • The improvements scheme for Roscoe’s roundabout, Abney Hall Park and the Manchester Road/Stockport Road junction at Cheadle Green comes back to Area Committee following the consultation. If approved, there would be another round of consultation with a legal advertisment, allowing residents to submit comments before a final decision was made. Some amendments have been made to the scheme, for example with the lighting through the park.
  • Proposal for chicanes on High Grove Road – if approved there would be a consultation with residents on the plans.
  • Appointment of councillors to lay wreaths at the Remembrance services in November.

Defibrillators! – in an overpopulated country in an overpopulated world we should not be trying to the ‘nth’ degree to keep people going…
Death be as much a part of life as life itself – get used to that, Get Over That and GET A LIFE! ?

  2. SR says:

This is the sort of inflammatory and stupid comment we unfortunately have to see on this blog from you. The only bit that I, and I suspect, many others would agree on, is that you need ”to get a life “ and stop wasting yours and everyone else’s time with your anti-Gatley, Anti-Stockport, Anti-British, anti-everyone. Your rude and occasional almost racist comments are not welcome. Don’t bother with attempting some kind of reply to this, as it will not be worth reading anyway.

    • DR C says:

The thing this is ‘anti’ is the profligacy the political class (particularly those on the left wing) indulge in with taxpayers money.
Still, with sops like you SR – they probably hope it will ‘pay dividends’ (❌)!
Now then, SR – calm down dear!!

  3. SR says:

Before you compose what you think is a smart reply, or resort to another insult. I certainly cannot be bothered to read or reply to such rubbish. I expect other legitimate users of this blog will probably feel similar sentiments. oh, and don’t brag that you have got the better of me……that would be too pathetic for words.

    • DR C says:

      Still ‘stirring’ things? – SR!
Tha knows you wish to portray yourself as being whiter than white, but, really – save that for your namesake toothpaste!!
Meanwhile… someone has to speak up for the hard-pressed taxpayers who continue to be fleeced by profligate and supposedly do-gooding politicos.
You may be a sop for their vanity, SR, but not all of us are.

      • SR says:

You say that you are standing up for taxpayers. What you write is not debate. You make incoherent digs at everybody which is why you are not representing anyone but your own warped enjoyment. If you want to make a diffence….get elected. If by a miracle you did get in, you would not last long because you come over as an uneducated person who trolls others and insults others to for enjoyment. Very sad. Finally, in this day and age, describing someone as being whiter than white is backdoor racism. You don’t know the colour of my skin. You should be very careful.

        • DR C says:

          ?…
Tha may not know the colour of your skin but tha knows a ‘snowflake’ when tha reads one! ❄️
You certainly come across as a typical lefty – playing the race card in the hope of stifling debate.
You are such a sop – very much in keeping with ‘Stocky’ types more generally!! ?

    Another one bites the dust.

  5. ruth says:

The comments on this blog used to be vetted….is there no way to prevent Dr C’s comments. He/she makes a nonsense of what otherwise is a useful forum for an exchange of opinion.

    • DR C says:

Just because someone holds an opinion contrary to yours does not Invalidate that opinion.
Some mugs say that the weak will inherit the earth, well, perhaps they shall, BUT, it would not be an earth worth INHERITING, AND, it would not last long! ?

  6. John H says:

I see we have not been courageous enough to make comment on Cheadle’s traffic chaos.
A bullet to be dodged Iain?

    • SR says:

I aggree Ruth with your comment about Dr.C.
Anybody who comments on something Dr.c writes, gets trolled and insulted. I have been reading the blog for a long time now, and find it a useful source of information about what is happening locally. I also read peoples posts because I like to see other people’s views, because they are valid.
      For the record,
I am not a leftie or sop.
      I am not a snowflake.
I was not pulling the race card. ( any body who knows me would laugh at those suggestions)
Dr c describes me as a snowflake and whiter than white…..that is tantamount to back door racism.
Dr.c only makes the comments, because Drc is a coward who would not dare to make the comments to the person face to face. Notice the pattern…..this post will receive an insulting put down very soon as Drc has to have the last insulting word.

    Iain

I believe you have a small error in your original post. Looking at the papers accompanying the agenda, the application from the Village Partnership is for a contribution towards Gatley’s excellent Christmas Market, not defib equipment.

I’d missed it earlier due to the nonsense this thread has been turned into.

    John

    • Iain Roberts says:

Hi John. GVP have applied for funding for a defib as reported.

After I wrote the piece, we had a late additional application for a contribution towards the Christmas market, which we were happy to allow on the agenda to consider.

      • John Hartley says:

        Thanks for the clarification, Iain.

So is that two applications for the defib and you’ll decide which one gets it. Or is it, effectively, a “double header” with the two groups effectively bidding for two grand?

  8. SR says:

Sorry John. I agree, it is nonsense and I have finished.

  9. June Westley says:

Re Highgrove Road, I don’t see that there is a need for chicanes.
There are usually cars parked along the road, which perform the same function and the road is so bumpy, that it is difficult to speed, for those who might want to.

  10. Malcolm Haynes says:

I trust that any defibrillators that are supplied are only to be operated by trained individuals. I wouldn’t want any well meaning ‘Tom, Dick or Harry’ or ‘Jane’ to use one on me unless they were suitably trained and qualified.
Why does Highgrove Road need chicanes ? It is so uneven that most vehicles cannot go more than about 15mph without the driver banging his head on the car roof as well as damaging the shock absorbers and suspension. Much better to make the end at Gatley Road one way in; it isn’t wide enough for two vehicles to pass at the same time. The Brick wall has been knocked several times over the years because of the narrow width.

  11. Iain Roberts says:

    Dear all,

Just for info, I have put “Dr C” on the moderation list. That means any future comments from this person will be held in a queue and only go onto the site if I approve them.

  12. Margaret Cummins says:

As far as I can see, SR gave as good as she/he got, so it’s a little unfair to vet one without the other.
And while I m on, can anyone advise who a person contacts when a mound of dog poo is spotted in the middle of the main thoroughfare, I.e High St. Cheadle. Some poor soul had already had not noticed it and must have had their shoes covered. Ugg!

    • Mark McIntyre says:

If there is one thing Liberals hate more than anything it is opinions which are strongly contrary to their own.
Liberalism has no part to play in their politics! ?

  13. janet mcleod says:

Why has the Red Lion filling station appeal been dismissed? Because it is in a residential area Im guessing was the excuse. But it is on a main road, the main road that goes to Stockport etc. If people wanted a very quiet area with no disruptions then why live on a main road like Stockport road? Are we to have nothing in Cheadle? No buses, no trains, no trams, no bike lanes, no late night shops, no way of getting to late night shops if you dont have your own transport. Just more and more planning applications, which in turn will bring more and more traffic for the residential applications. What a ridiculous place Cheadle has become. So sad

    • Iain Roberts says:

      Hi Janet,

The planning application was rejected because it’s in a residential area (not just people who live on the main road, but also the nearby side roads) and there are other options for 24 hour filling stations nearby. We’re working on improving public transport and cycling facilities, despite all the challenges.
