MPs release rail chaos report

by Iain Roberts on 4 December, 2018

MPs on the House of Commons Transport Committee have released their report on what went wrong with our railways to cause the chaos in May that we’re still suffering from today. The report also looks at what needs to happen next.

There are no simple answers, but it’s good to see that the pressure from all sides is resulting in progress being made.

The full report is here.

Or in one word. Privatisation. Grayling could have asked for the facts if he was interested, however as he is wedded to the ideology of privatisation he wasn’t interested at all. Even now, after having to hand back the East Coast Mainline for failing to make their payments, neither Stagecoach nor Virgin Trains are barred from making future bids.

I agree, Alan. It is all P’s – Planning for Profit from Privatisation before Performance before People. To think that Britain once led the World into Railways?
