From the Council:
Please be advised that contractors working on behalf of Cadent are currently undertaking works to repair a gas escape on Wilmslow Road, Cheadle, at the junction of Schools Hill. These works require the use of a temporary eastbound lane closure and are expected to be completed on 21st February 2019.

Why such a long time to do the repair?
The hole has been excavated and the pipe exposed just repair and reinstate the road, what will this delay do for congestion and more importantly Polution Levels
