Police report 9-15 Feb 2019

by Lib Dem team on 19 February, 2019

An update on incidents and work in the Cheadle & Bramhall ward for the period Saturday 9th February to Friday 15th February 2019. I have also included some updates from this weekend.

The team had a stall promoting Hate Crime Week and general neighbourhood issues. The PCSO’s spent a couple of hours at John Lewis / Sainsbury’s and Cheadle Hulme High Street. One officer remained at the stall, while the other two conducted foot patrol around the local area. While the stall was very well received by local residents and shoppers who welcomed the chance to talk to the team about local issues, the large number of negative comments received on the Facebook page was very disappointing. It may be that we need to review holding such stalls in the future.

The Division has secured funding to tackle anti-social behaviour for the next few weeks. This will mean two extra officers on duty each evening. While they are a Divisional resource each Neighbourhood has put bids in as to where they are required. I have asked that they cover the Hulme Hall Road area this weekend, to deter the ASB seen over the last few weeks and to obtain details on those involved.

A female was arrested on Sunday 17th February following a burglary on Dennison Road, Cheadle Hulme. She was charged with burglary today and remanded in custody to appear in court tomorrow.

Burglary

There have been 18 recorded burglaries. Of these entry was gained to the property in 10 of the recorded crimes. No entry was gained in 5, due to the house alarm or the offenders not being able to get in, and three of the crimes were shed breaks. Vehicles were the target for 6 of the recorded burglaries.

Heald Green accounted for 6 of the 18 crimes, Cheadle Hulme accounted for 4, Gatley and Bramhall accounted for 3 each. Cheadle suffered 2.

Robbery

There were 3 reports of robbery.2 x 15 year old offenders threatened and stole items from some school children in Scholes Park at around 16:00 last Tuesday. The same offenders threatened another school child waiting at a bus stop on Gatley Road about half an hour earlier. PCSO’s have been conducting a cctv trawl in the area, and have continued with patrols at school finishing times. We have not had any further reports of robbery.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

There was 1 report of a theft of motor vehicle, this being an Audi stolen from High Grove Road, Cheadle on Saturday 9th February. The vehicle was located and recovered a couple of days later.

Anti-Social Behaviour

There has been a marked drop off in logs relating to ASB on Hulme Hall Road. This has been a problem area for the past few weeks. This weekend just gone (Saturday 16th February & Sunday 17th February) has seen one report of youths in this area. We focused our beat officer in this area this weekend which has deterred the group. We have also been able to obtain names of some of the group which will allow us to start enforcement work.
