The Full Council debate on the budget for the next two years in Stockport proved to be a robust exchange of views. The Liberal Democrat Team in council wanted to defend the local control for local funding. We could not countenance the local budgets being slashed and control centred at the Town Hall.

At Tuesday’s meeting LibDems submitted a well thought out plan to achieve this by identifying funding for the budgets. The plan was undeniable and ultimately achieved unanimous support from all parties.

We can confirm the funding will be maintained at 2018-19 levels for the next two financial years.
