Greater Manchester Bus consultation launched

by Lib Dem team on 15 October, 2019

The consultation on the future of buses in Greater Manchester has now been launched and the Lib Dem team are encouraging everyone to have your say.

However, the Lib Dems have also raised concerns that the consultation is very technical and seems more designed for transport experts than the general public.

You can see the consultation here.

“Buses in Greater Manchester are expensive and many important routes are being lost because they don’t make enough profit for the bus companies. The Liberal Democrats are campaigning for a regulated bus network designed to meet the needs of the people of Greater Manchester,” said Cllr Keith Holloway.

“I urge everyone to take part in this consultation, whether or not you are currently a bus user. Buses are by far the most used form of public transport in Greater Manchester and we need to get this right.”

Cllr Iain Roberts said “It’s important for people to have their say, but when the very first question in the full survey is ‘Do you have any comments on the corrections and changes in the Proposed Franchising Scheme?’ it’s hard to see many residents taking the trouble. It’s very disappointing that the Combined Authority’s consultation has been written this way and it almost guarantees a poor public response.”

As someone who was keen to have their say – I think all buses should be regulated- I attempted this.
It’s a massive lumbering piece of documentation and completely beyond a layman I would suggest.!what is required is a series of tick boxes to allow people to cast a vote on the key elements

    I agree with Alan.

Please have the bus service down Styal Road restored.

I also tried to fill this in, but gave up after question 3. I agree the format is to technical. But isn’t this how they are always laid out to get the least response. !!
