Arrest following Gatley car theft

by Lib Dem team on 4 December, 2019

Some good news from Trafford South Police:

3 males have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving. Shortly after 11pm last night (Monday 2nd) an officer from Trafford South sighted a Silver Mercedes ML which made off at speed on sighting the police vehicle.

The pursuit travelled through Northern moor, Didsbury, Chorlton, Stretford and Fallowfield where the vehicle was abandoned in a park. The 2 male passengers were detained at the scene and the driver run away.

After a containment of officers blocking exits, an officer from the tactical dog section tracked to a bush where the driver was found hiding.

The car has been recovered for a full forensic examination and all arrested are in custody awaiting questioning.

The silver Mercedes was stolen by means of burglary from the Gatley area of Stockport a few days ago.

This incident was great team work from Trafford South, Tactical dog section, Tactical Vehicle Intercept unit, Roads policing unit and Firearms.

Top job!

    Congrats to the Trafford bobbies.

Interesting to read that a firearms unit was involved. I wonder if that’s a standard deployment in such scenarios?
