Litter picking South Park Road

by Lib Dem team on 6 February, 2021

This week’s big litter pick was at the end South Park Road, by the slip road off the M60.

“In addition to the usual litter, we found unopened DVDs and several tripods presumably used by workmen and then just chucked over the fence,” said Iain.

Many thanks for this! People seem to think it is acceptable throwing rubbish out of their cars and cutting through the front of Southpark estate. Although it is an offence no one is ever pulled up/fined!

You’d have probably got another 3 bags of rubbish had my 5 year old son and his father not done some litter picking in the same area last Sunday. One passerby was so impressed with my son’s hard work that he paid him £2 – he was delighted!

It’s just a shame that people have so little respect for their’s and other’s environment.

Well done everyone. Anyone who reads my personal comments on Facebook, and as Chairman of Cheadle Civic Society, I am so anti-littering that it upsets some people. I always report overflowing bins, fly tipping, excess littering, blocked pathways on the SMBC website. I cannot walk past littering without doing something about it. I know that if I don’t, then the chances are that it will be there next time. There is no litter on the road where I live, because others feel the same as I do. I suggested on SK8 that if everyone kept the front of their house clear, no matter who dropped it, there would be such a fantastic improvement. There was a lot of adverse comments. In some people’s thoughts, it is someone else’s problem. My concern is living with it, whilst waiting for someone else.

I totally agree with you Phillip, it is all our problem. In my opinion where there is litter people add to it, where it is tidy it is less likely to be littered. If your idea of keeping the front of our houses without litter was extended to shops how much nicer our village would look. I am horrified by the amount of litter dumped and very grateful to those people who are collecting it. Thankyou.

Why was a litter bin removed a week last Friday outside No 39 Wilmslow Road?
