I didn’t enjoy being bombarded by Muslim chanting for 3 hours on the Kingsway field, booming out of loudspeakers. In the end, on one of the hottest days of the year we had to close all the windows . If it had been the other way round the Muslims would have been in uproar.

  2. Joan says:

The noise was bad enough but the chaos and disruption in the surrounding streets was off the scale. Kingsway/the local council were very irresponsible in granting permission for this.

  3. Hasan says:

Thank you all for your good wishes.

As to the noise issue I am sure the Lib Dem team will pass on your comments to the mosque as will I.

    However to say ……..
had it been they other way around we would be in uproar ……. is unfair and unjust

We as muslim residents of Cheadle have the deepest respect for our Neighbours and would always work with them regarding any issues

  4. Alan says:

Well you showed no respect last week. All the events I saw on the news were run at mosques- I don’t k ow why you had to be so different.

  5. Janet Brindley says:

I would have hoped for a bit more tolerance for a few hours of celebrating a major religious festival. Christmas is blasted at us all for weeks!

  6. Mak says:

There have been plenty of events using loudspeakers on Kingsway fields for years. No one ever complains about those events. For me parking was the main issue and I have personally fed that back to the mosque committee.

This is something that will continue. So get used to it and you’re more than welcome to join in. There are plenty of stalls you can choose from. Perhaps even some Muslims you can speak to… have you ever even spoken to a Muslim before? We don’t bite.

  7. Alan says:

Ah so now I have to put up with it do I? Not long before Muslim arrogance emerges.

  8. Alan says:

One more thing Mak. What really wrinkled was that no one thought it polite to let residents know what was happening. The school didn’t, your mosque didn’t. Even though we know what Eid means no non Muslim would turn up to an event like that because we have no idea of any sensibilities we might be offending. So if you were serious about inviting non Muslims you might think that next year, leafleting the adjacent houses to the field, explaining the event, what’s involved what’s “available” and what non Muslims may find “appealing” for want of a better term

  9. Karen Sandler says:

Alan, your comments are unjustified and unnecessary. Yes, it was noisy. Yes, the driving and parking were chaotic. But, as you say, it was for 3 hours.
But every religion is entitled to celebrate in a way that makes people happy. A few hours of your life is irrelevant to the many thousands of our Muslim neighbours and friends who were happily and peacefully celebrating their festival. They did no harm to anyone, and I am sure were immensely grateful that they could, at last, celebrate in such a way.
    Eid Mubabarak.

    • Alan says:

      Karen
Let me assure you that NO hours of my life are irrelevant and I won’t have them stolen by anyone.
My comments may seem to be unnecessary and unjustified to you but they are both relevant and justified to me.

  10. Sally says:

Have to say all roads round Broadway , Arlington , Daylesford Cherington etc were totally impossible to get through , had people parking so close to our drive meant we couldn’t get out , when I asked them not to park there and to just give us a bit of room to get my car out I was told why are you stopping us from going to pray , I think consideration for the people who live here would have been the correct thing

    • Abbas says:

Last but not least, thank you Mr Roberts for your Eid wishes.

Auto correct made a mistake with Alan’s name and wrote it as Allen. Just to be mentioned.

  11. Abbas says:

Thank you Karen for being sensible and supportive.

Sorry to Sally for having to face some insensitive people with their irrational answer, in regard of blocking your drive way.

    For Allen, chill out, mate.
Bone fire night is much noisy and for longer time, even some pets would feel frightened then.
