The Lib Dem team are calling for bus regulation across Greater Manchester. Bus regulation would give us a London-style system where the buses run under one brand, with one fare structure, and go where passengers need them to, not where they make the most money for bus company shareholders.
“Andy Burnham promised bus regulation in 2017 when he was first elected. Three years on, he’s asking for our votes again and promising exactly the same thing.” said Cllr Keith Holloway. “We can’t afford to waste another three years.”
The Lib Dems have long campaigned for a bus to link Cheadle and Gatley to East Didsbury Metrolink, and for better links into Manchester.
“Andy Burnham promised better buses, but the reality is we’ve seen services slashed on his watch – it’s just not good enough.” Keith said.

Andy who ! That says it all i hope. Long walk of a short pier
The reason why Keith said “it’s just not good enough “ is because Andy Burnham is just not good enough.
I don’t think it was the Lib Dem’s who first came up with the idea of a bus link to the metro at East Didsbury but various contributors to this forum site. Also can I remind everyone that the Buzy Bee bused came into being because the old style arrangement wasn’t satisfactory, plus I don’t think there have been any strikes since private buses ran and the drivers don’t please themselves if they stop for you or not. Some people have short memories.
Hi Margaret – we’ve been campaigning for a shuttle bus for a long time, because people have raised it with us and we think it’s important. Bus regulation is not the same as taking buses into public ownership: London has 16 private bus companies all running buses under the TfL banner.
