Did you know that you can search Stockport library books – and make reservations – online on your PC, tablet or phone using Spydus.
To do it, just go to the Spydus website or install the Spydus app for Android or iOS.
A couple of months ago, we reported on how you can read over 100 magazines online for free if you’re a Stockport library member.

Great service – and it is free!!!!!
Another point I would like to make is that I am a member of all the local libraries – Stockport, Manchester (Civic Centre), Trafford (Timperley) and Cheshire (Handforth). If Stockport don’t have what you are looking for then try the others – easy to join them all.
As far as I am aware Cheshire are the only one to charge (£1) you for reservations.

In fact, you can get any book held by any library in the country through the “Inter Library Loan” service. Your local library should be able to arrange it. I’ve only used it once, some years back, when I wanted to get hold of a rare specialist book for some military history research I was doing. It took a few weeks as I recall but, other than that, was a great service.
Last week I wanted to reserve 3 books that were not in Cheadle library but were available else where. I could not do this and ended up having to phone the library service to reserve them. I could remove them from the list but not reserve them as there wasn’t the appropriate button to do so. I had emails going backwards and forwards about this and even sent screen shots….to no avail.
