The 44 and 45 buses that run from the Airport and Heald Green through Gatley and into Manchester are getting a route change.
Currently the buses come through Gatley and turn right at the Gatley lights, then go along Broadway, left onto Wilmslow Road, left onto Gatley Road and then right onto Kingsway towards Parrs Wood.
Under the new proposals, the buses simply turn left from Gatley onto Kingsway, towards Parrs Wood.
The proposals come to the TfGM Bus committee on 20th January.

How are Gatley residents going to be able to get into Cheadle using public transport? Can Iain please advise?
The 11 and 11A will continue to run from Gatley to Cheadle.
I have noticed quite a few of the 45s going down Delamere and apart from one , which had a single passenger, they have all been empty. And where are the bus stops?
These buses should be routed via Manchester Road to and from Parrs Wood to at least make some attempt to cover for the proposed loss of the X57, we should all remember that Bus companies receive large public subsidies for running these services as well as charging passengers. One of the biggest subsidies is that Bus companies are exempt from paying fuel duty on all fuel used in there operations. It is time we made them work for their profits
Residents along Styal Road between Heald Green and Gatley have already suffered the cut of the 44 service from hourly to two hourly. Now, to get to Cheadle, we will have to change in Gatley – this certainly does not encourage the use of public transport.
Bad enough that Cheadle is to be cut off from Manchester by the so called bus services but how will we get to and from Parrswood too? No cinema for us then!!!! Can everyone afford taxis can everyone walk from Gately if manage to use the train???
Starting to wonder what our rates go on— potholes, parking on double yellow lines & pavements, litter, shop windows and bus stop glass broken, all terrible round here, could go on and on.
If the proposals are approved, will these buses travel to/from Parrs Wood / Gatley along Kingsway without passing the White Hart ?
Yes, I believe so.
The 44 should revert to connecting Styal Road to the centre of Cheadle and Parrs Wood. For me this is an invaluable transport route enabling me to shop locally as well as facilitating the entertainment hub and Tesco supermarket. In addition it enables me to access the Mcr Royal Eye Hospital, adjacent to the MRI and St Marys.
This is a personal view point, but I doubt that I am unique in these needs.
