It’s official: Cheadle is one of a number of key seats where the Tories can be beaten by Labour voters switching to the Lib Dems.
“A vote for Labour is a wasted vote in Cheadle,” said Cllr Iain Roberts. “The 2017 General Election will see either a Conservative or Lib Dem MP for Cheadle. We are asking Labour voters to support the Lib Dems and kick out the Tories.”
“If you want to see strong opposition to the Tories in Parliament and a good local MP fighting for people in Cheadle, vote Lib Dem,” Iain added.

Having gone back to labour last time I feel guilty having contributed to the elections of the invisible Cheadle Tory Mary Robinson… who is your candidate? Is mark hunter not standing ?
Hi Gary – Mark will be the Lib Dem candidate.
Invisible? – be fair…
She asked a most pressing question (concerning local roads) only the other day – to non other than the Prime Minister!
Voting UKIP could also help him – by default – could it not?
! -)
As a Labour supporter, Mark will be getting my vote – good to see him back in contention-
An honest and hard working MP
What’s the stay in Europe campaign for? We had a referendum, we’re out, so all this hot air about hard and soft brexit is really nonsense. We (the UK) need a strong leadership right now to deal with the non-elected dictators running Europe in order to get the best deal we can. This may be hard, it may not. Nothing against Mark, he did a lot as MP, but it’s more important to have a a strong leader/government than not right now.
Here Here!!! well said.
That also means that if those who voted lib dems last time voted labour this time means we could have a labour MP.
Why not ? Lets have a change in Cheadle.
Who ever people vote for please remember what little Mary Robinson has done for your community.
To be fair…
Tha be unsure what she has done for Cheadle, but, she did support me – by signing a petition and contacting the relevant minister.
The result was a forgone conclusion – failure, but, she did at least make the effort.
As for the constituency – give her a chance – she has been in the job for two years!
Wouldn’t it be great if we had a voting system whereby everybody could vote for who they wanted, knowing that their vote would really count, and that they didn’t have to make a tactical decision to vote for a candidate that they didn’t support in the hope that it stopped someone else being elected?
Are any parties supporting such a sensible idea at this election, Iain?
Does sound like a great idea – I have a suspicion the Lib Dems might be continuing to support just such a proposal 🙂
