Lost Voice Guy on the bill for Gatley Festival comedy night

Britain’s Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy will be entertaining Gatley Festival ‘GatFest’ on 29 June. The gig, which sold out quickly following Lee Ridley’s high profile television coverage, was arranged by the festival before the comedian became famous. Festival Chair Emma James says “we are delighted have secured such a fantastic act, and are excited to welcome Lee to Gatley as part of our full weekend of events”

GatFest was at risk of closing permanently just two years ago after bad weather affected income. Emma added “we formed a new committee last year and were able to revitalise the festival programme with new events and venues. We’re proud to be able to use our funds to benefit our community, for example buying a defibrillator for the village centre”.

The three-day festival includes a music night headlined by Fake That, a parade, carnival, teddy bear’s picnic, and mini family rave. The parade theme this year is We Are The Champions, and instead of the traditional carnival ‘royalty’ , local children are being given the opportunity to dress up as their Champions. Champions being celebrated also include suffragettes and WW1 soldiers, on the centenary of the armistice, who will be giving demonstrations during the day.

GatFest is held Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st July and, with 5000 people attending, is one of the largest community events in Stockport. GatFest is sponsored by Delisa Miller Estate Agents, Sign and Display, and Brookside Pre-School. Event details are online at www.gatleyfestival.org
