Cllr Graham Greenhalgh has warned residents that the streetlights on the road into Abney Hall Park opposite the cemetery are currently out for repair. This is the entrance nearest to Parrs Wood.

Apparently the lighting was discovered to be over 80 years old, and some cabling is potentially dangerous, so work is being done to resolve the situation.

However, no streetlighting along that stretch means that that road into Abney isn’t just dark at night – it’s pitch black – so please take care if you’re there on foot and perhaps stick to daylight-hour visits until new, safe streetlighting is being installed.
