Update on Cheadle Pool

by Lib Dem team on 13 December, 2018

From the Council:

Access has been restricted to Cheadle Pool since 24th October due to the need to make safe dislodged ductwork in the roof space and construct a new ceiling. Public swimming recommenced in mid-November, but it has not been possible to accommodate school and community swimming lessons as the scaffolding has restricted the pool walkways and the noise from overhead works could limit of children to hear teachers’ instructions.

It was originally anticipated that these works would be completed by the end of December but unforeseen circumstances mean that the scaffolding is likely to be in place until the end of March 2019.

After discussions with Stockport Council, the decision has been made to cancel all school swimming lessons until April 2019.

We are working with schools to accommodate swimming lessons elsewhere in the interim period.

Due to the extended closure we intend to deliver alternative weekly swimming lessons for the January – April term at one of our four other Life Leisure facilities. Our swimming team will be in touch via email during week commencing 17th December with information on how to book a space for the January term. Any payments that have been made towards the lessons will be transferred to the new facility. During this period of disruption we will be continuing to offer 1-1 lessons at Life Leisure Cheadle during the original lesson timetable. These lessons will continue to be offered with a 50% reduction on normal 1-1 price.

We are grateful for your cooperation and hope the alternative lesson opportunities will allow your child to continue with their swimming lessons during this temporary closure.
