Cllr Keith Holloway joined staff and students at The Kingsway School, Stockport Mayor Adrian Nottingham and other luminaries, planting a tree to celebrate the legacy of Prince Phillip on what would have been his 100th birthday.

The school says:

Today, we were chosen by the Greater Manchester The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to host a tree planting event for the Stockport Borough on the anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday, in celebration of his legacy for the award. Our students supported the planting of a pear tree donated by the City of Trees.

The event was attended by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Robina Shah, Consular General Dr Ishan Allawi, Consular General Mr Tariq Kahn, Assistant High Commissioner Abu Nasar Anowarul of Bangladesh, Mayor of Stockport Council, Duke of Edinburgh representatives and other guests. It was a great celebration of the Duke of Edinburgh and will be a reminder of the hard work and determination our students have done and will continue to do as they gain their award.
