Members of the Muslim Community Centre sign the agreement with Cllr Keith Holloway and a council officer

Keith and Graham, working with the Muslim Community Centre on Foxland Road and the Council, have secured use of the car park at the top of Beech Avenue for busier times.

The Muslim Community Centre is quiet for most of the week, but parking can get busy on Friday afternoons when a larger service is held. The Lib Dem team has been working with the centre to find a solution.

The Scholes Field car park is normally kept locked, but the Centre has now signed the agreement to become keyholders.

“We’ve worked with the community centre to resolve this parking issue and I’m very glad to have found a solution,” said Cllr Graham Greenhalgh. “The car park, which would otherwise be locked and out of use at that time, can be used to reduce on-road parking on Foxland Road.”

There is already a mosque in Heald Green, just up the road. There is no need for a second in the area. It was a row of shops and should have remained as such. Mosques on high streets should not be allowed. There is another on on Finney Lane High Street opposite Llotds Bank. And as a result there is no car park spaces on Fridays between 1 and 3pm. Absolutely ridiculous.

Visited this mosque a couple of times in the past, the stewards were great. They also made sure that people were not parking on the road and encouraging people to walk. This is a good facility for the local Muslims and businesses

Why not walk, i thought the new thing was to get people from using cars all the time ! It all just smoke and mirrors as usual.
