Iain has thanks everyone who gave money in support of the Mayor’s charities, sponsoring an abseil from Stopford House last Saturday.

“Councillors from all the main political parties, along with council officers and friends raised more than £5,000 for St Ann’s Hospice and Stockport Samaritans,” said Iain. “It was a fantastic achievement and I know the Mayor, Cllr Chris Gordon, is very grateful to everyone who donated.”

The abseil took place in glorious sunshine. “Those of us who were nervously hoping that bad weather might see it called off were sadly disappointed, but in the end we all had a great time with at least one first-time abseiler enjoying it so much that she went up to have a second go.”
